The District Level Elections (DLEs) in the Guan and Jasikan Districts will take place on December 19, 2023, according to a statement from the Electoral Commission (EC).

This comes after the Constitutional Instrument (CI) was passed, enabling the EC to carry out the exercise in the concerned districts.

Recall that on November 16 and 17, 2023, nominations for the 2023 district level elections were not received in the Jasikan and Guan districts, unlike in the other districts.

This resulted from the then-lay in Parliament CI 119 (to be amended) not having developed.

“Nomination Forms may be obtained free of charge at the Jasikan and Guan District Offices of the Electoral Commission or on the Website of the Electoral Commission (www.ec.gov.gh),” the Electoral Commission stated in a statement released on Monday.

“Completed Nomination Forms must be delivered in quadruplicate by either the Candidate or the Proposer or Seconder together with two copies of recent post-card sized photographs (bust sized) to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Area for which the Candidate seeks election, from Thursday, the 7th to Friday the 8th of December 2023 between the hours of nine o’clock in the morning to twelve noon and two o’clock to five o’clock in the evening on each day.”

The EC further stated that nominations for the District Assembly Elections must be supported by eighteen (18) additional residents who are registered to vote in the Electoral Area, as well as be witnessed by the signatures or marks of the proposer and seconder.
