For his own benefit as well as the sake of the government, Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, has encouraged Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister, to think about resigning.
The nation’s persistent economic problems have been the driving force behind the mounting calls for Ofori-Atta’s resignation over the past few months. Pressure organisations and the NDC, Ghana’s major opposition party, have consistently held the Finance Minister accountable for the nation’s present financial problems.
During an interview on Face to Face on Tuesday, the legislator underlined the significance of self-evaluation for Mr. Ofori-Atta. He recommended that he take into account his stance for both his own and the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) welfare.
“For me, what is very frightening is the fact that you have a whole army of people saying look you’ve had enough…I think that that could be a way for him to relax. Look at all the burdens on one man. So it is his individual decision to make as to whether he should go or he should continue.”
Even further, Atta-Akyea said that Ofori-Atta’s resignation might help to calm the political climate in the country and the government.
“He should look at himself and look at the troubles that everybody believes, I mean when he is not there then the nation will have peace…He should save himself and save the government and have his peace because he needs it,” Mr Atta Akyea added.
