The government intends to recolor all public basic schools from their current brown and yellow to blue and white, according to a statement made by Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

This program is a component of a rebranding strategy meant to improve the schools’ visual appeal.

Dr. Adutwum went on to say that this program is just one of many designed to resurrect and improve basic education in the nation.

“We are switching to blue and white. We are painting all the schools to give them an attractive outlook. This is the transformation Ghana deserves and it is coming,” the minister disclosed during a forum titled “The free SHS story” in Accra on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

He added that new uniforms would replace the brown and yellow ones.

“We are changing the uniforms of public basic schools in the country. The yellow and brown that you see now, you will see no more. Reformation is coming to a community near you, and you will see it.”

The minister of education went on to explain that the government is attempting to demonstrate to its detractors that its priorities extend beyond secondary education with this initiative.
