In the first leg of their third-round qualifying match for the Women’s Olympic Games, Zambia defeated Ghana 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium thanks to a goal in the first half.

The game’s lone goal was scored by Rechael Kundananji, the most expensive female football player in the world, giving Zambia an intriguing first-leg edge.

After just eighteen minutes, the Bay FC forward gave the Copper Queens the lead by chipping the ball over Ghanaian custodian Victoria Antwi Adjei.

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the visitors despite several close attempts by the Black Queens to equalise.

After the break, the Black Queens regained their composure and controlled the game, but they were unable to put the ball in the opponent’s net.

In an attempt to pull even, Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa tortured the Zambian defence, but Recheal Kundananji’s goal in the first half gave Zambia a 1-0 victory over the Black Queens of Ghana.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the second leg of the third round Olympic Games qualifier takes place in Ndola.
