The Black Queens of Ghana have successfully qualified for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

It follows a 3-2 victory over the Namibian Gladiators over two legs.

The Namibian Gladiators were behind 3-1 going into the second leg of the final Women’s AFCON qualifiers, but they defeated Ghana 1-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa.

It is only the second time that Nora Hauptle has lost as the Black Queens’ head coach.

The Black Queens faced a difficult task despite having a formidable starting lineup that featured players like Grace Asantewaa and Doris Boaduwaa. Tension erupted between the Black Queens and Namibia, who were competing for a spot in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, despite their bright beginning.

Both teams played evenly for the remainder of the match, with Namibia attempting multiple times to deny Ghana a chance to advance to the continental tournament that will be held in Morocco the following year.

Despite Namibia’s valiant efforts, Ghana prevailed in the game’s final moments, securing the coveted spot to return to the African stage after missing out on the previous edition.
