Due to the ongoing power outages that are severely affecting businesses and people’s ability to support themselves, the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has joined the chorus of people requesting that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) provide a load-shedding schedule.

GUTA emphasized in a statement the substantial effects of the power outages on a number of industries, including trade, industry, and agriculture.

They claim that because of the unstable power supply, which also raises production costs and degrades living conditions, manufacturers are finding it difficult to stick to their production schedules and plan for their workforce.

Due to the “Dumsor phenomenon,” traders, store owners, wholesalers, tailors, dressmakers, electricians, and other artisans are also having difficulties in their businesses.

GUTA is requesting information from ECG about the true reasons behind the unpredictable power outages, the steps being taken to address the problem, and when it will be resolved.

They also asked ECG to release a schedule for load-shedding so that companies could properly plan their operations.

Many store owners have turned to utilizing generators as a result of the erratic power outages, which has raised the cost of fuel to keep them running during unplanned power outages.
