Asante Kotoko’s poor finishing has been an issue all season long – Prosper Ogum

Following their 1-1 draw against Medeama on Saturday in a Ghana Premier League Week 28 match, Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, lamented the team’s poor finish.

Notwithstanding their rigorous training regimen and prolific goal scoring in the preseason, Ogum feels that his team has struggled to score goals all season.

Stephen Mukwala gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead after 30 minutes, but they ultimately drew the match after giving up a penalty in the second half.

Prosper Ogum talked extensively about his team’s lack of innovation in his post-game remarks.

“It’s been happening throughout the season. We create a lot of chances, but then the conversion is the issue. Interestingly too, we’ve been training on it. They score a lot of goals at training.

“But then the tempo and the temperament of training and games are different. They need to be positionally aware of where they are, apply the right technique, and put the ball at the back of the net.

“So they are right. I think we still need to work on it and make sure that the few chances that come our way, we will be able to convert.”
