As the Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament and the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has urged Ghanaians to disregard Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “stale tale” regarding the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy.

“FSHS will thrive and blossom under John Mahama as President because he will work with stakeholders to fix the challenges,” Dr. Apaak stated in a statement released on Wednesday.

The Builsa South MP claims that Dr. Bawumia and his team are occupied with spreading the tired and futile myth that Mr. Mahama will bring down FSHS, rather than concentrating on ways to salvage their failed campaign.

“No reasonable Ghanaian believes the nonsensical claim that JDM will cancel FSHS,” he added.

Additionally, he pointed out that the Vice President ought to have the audacity to inform Ghanaians that Mr. Mahama was correct to demand a review of the FSHS program, just as he [Bawumia] acknowledged to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as documented in paragraph 47 of the program’s initial review on page 76.

“If DMB is honest and worth his salt, he should tell Ghanaians that the current government he is a part of told the IMF that the FSHS Programme will be reviewed and rationalised.”

“The duplicity of DMB is affirmed by the fact that he, the vice President, was captured in the said report, dated January 2024, as the highest government official who represented the government during the review meeting with the IMF. Why was he comfortable telling the IMF the truth but continues deceiving Ghanaians, that review means cancel?”
